“Workers”
Well most of us are workers. Now Jesus spoke of workers in the vineyard in Matthew 20 and I find it very interesting indeed. The owner of the vineyard saw men standing around in the square and put them to work and their wages were agreed upon before they went to the field to work. Now the owner found more men to work and then about an hour before quitting time he found some more men to work in the field. Now it came time to be paid and the owner of the field gave the men that only worked one hour the same amount of money that he promised the first men he hired and they got angry. Now let’s look at today here and now would you be angry if you were hired to do a job for a specific amount and there was another person hired to work only an hour and got the same pay as you? Well of course you would because that is human nature but as a follower of Christ we should hold our tongue and go to the Father for the answer and His answer would be the same as the owner of the vineyard; “Friend, I am not being unfair to you. Didn’t you agree to work for a denarius? Take your pay and go. I want to give the man who was hired last the same as I gave you. Don’t I have the right to do what I want with my own money? Or are you envious because I am generous?” This being known shows once again God’s lesson to us in life the last will be first and the first will be last. So when you are called to do a job and are blessed, do not envy the man who made the same as you even though he worked less than you. Actually it would make me think about what unrepented sin I had in my life that he would be blessed above me. I would be asking for clarification on that for sure. It builds perseverance and wisdom. Think about it.
