“Do You Let People Pull You Away?”
I was reading in Acts this morning chapters 21 and 22 to be exact where Paul was going to Jerusalem. There were many people that told him don’t go because of what they knew was going to happen to him. It brought Paul to tears at one point because the people didn’t want to see him go. Paul knew what he has to do and he knew it would bring some kind of hardship because the Holy Spirit told him over and over that eh would. But Paul did what he was supposed to do, he went to Jerusalem. While in Jerusalem there were lots of false accusations about him and the rulers couldn’t figure out what charges to bring against him because of the confusion so they were just going to flog him and set him free. He was already beaten by the mob of people and they were going to flog him? How awful this must have been for Paul but the Holy Spirit came to him and told him he would be spreading the Gospel to Rome and so the story goes on from there. To have that kind of faith knowing that going to Jerusalem would bring pain and suffering yet he continued on in the faith that God was with him. He knew he had to proclaim Jesus Christ to all he could and that God would make a way for this to happen for him no matter what suffering Paul was going to go through he was going to finish. This question remains; do you let others pull you away from God’s plan in your life? I have heard many things like, “Oh your just wasting your time and money on that. You’re not going to follow through with that it is too hard. Oh you will get bored with it and drop it.” Almost 8 years later we are still chugging along proclaiming Jesus Christ to the world. There have bee many days that I wanted to call it quits but then the Holy Spirit would comfort me in knowing this is not my plan but God’s plan. There are many times that I needed money and have done without things so that we could continue and there are many times I would get angry because of something that had failed. But I never ever let anyone talk me out of sharing the Gospel. Being content in the lean times as well as the times of plenty. A new page has turned and we begin anew. The sun has risen and God’s Mercy is renewed. We will persevere in our trials of the day for God is with us and no man can take Him away from us. Don’t let people pull you away from God’s plans for your life. Stand firm in Him and know that He is God and you are not.
Key Verse:
Acts 21:13
Then Paul answered, “Why are you weeping and breaking my heart? I am ready not only to be bound, but also to die in Jerusalem for the name of the Lord Jesus.”
