Just A Thought 1-9-2009

Esau sold his birthright for some soup.  What about you?  How much would you sell your birthright for?  Satan has the cash all you have to do is name your price.  Just a thought.

What would be an example of ’selling your birthright?’ And what birthright are you talking about.

    Just wondering …

    • In the case of Esau he basically sold his inheritance to his brother for a moment of self gratification of his stomach. Not a well thought out thing to do. The birthright back in Old Testament times was a very important thing it is like our family name is today even more so this would pertain to royalty. I hope this helps also if you read the Blog dated 1-9-2009 you will see more of where I was heading.

I’m familiar with the story of Jacob and Esau. I meant what would be a modern day example of a Christian selling his birthright. … Thanks.

    • I am just pondering this and guessing but once you have accepted Christ that “Birthright” cannot be sold unless of course you sell your soul to the devil for some selfish fleshly desire and denounce Jesus but even that is redeemable. The only sin, according to the Holy Bible, that is not redeemable would be blasphemey of the Holy Spirit which in my opinion is a very difficult thing to do. The reason I specifically relate this to a Christian is before you accept Christ you do not follow His ways and satan pretty much controls all the worldly things. To me my Birthright is Jesus Christ and to sell Him out would’nt be something I would do.

Remember how easy it was for the disciple Peter to ’sellout’ Jesus three times in the space of a few minutes? He was immediately remorseful and got forgiveness.
I agree with you and we need to be careful how we handle our ‘birthright’ (salvation) and how we live out our Christianity and our particular calling.
You raised a good question … keep it up! May the Lord bless and keep you.

    • Amen! and thanks for your kind words. You are right about Peter and it makes me wonder how many other “Peters” are in the world today. Confess to stand firm and yet when it comes time fail to even recognize Him. OOOO this would make a great sermon! Thank you again Jesus Bless you too
