250 Events In The Life Of Christ/ A Harmony Of The Gospels Part 130

Section 2: Message And Ministry Of Jesus

“Jesus Sends Out 72 Messengers”

Luke 10:1-16

1 After this the Lord appointed seventy-two[a] others and sent them two by two ahead of him to every town and place where he was about to go. 2 He told them, “The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field. 3 Go! I am sending you out like lambs among wolves. 4 Do not take a purse or bag or sandals; and do not greet anyone on the road.

5 “When you enter a house, first say, ‘Peace to this house.’ 6 If someone who promotes peace is there, your peace will rest on them; if not, it will return to you. 7 Stay there, eating and drinking whatever they give you, for the worker deserves his wages. Do not move around from house to house.

8 “When you enter a town and are welcomed, eat what is offered to you. 9 Heal the sick who are there and tell them, ‘The kingdom of God has come near to you.’ 10 But when you enter a town and are not welcomed, go into its streets and say, 11 ‘Even the dust of your town we wipe from our feet as a warning to you. Yet be sure of this: The kingdom of God has come near.’ 12 I tell you, it will be more bearable on that day for Sodom than for that town.

13 “Woe to you, Chorazin! Woe to you, Bethsaida! For if the miracles that were performed in you had been performed in Tyre and Sidon, they would have repented long ago, sitting in sackcloth and ashes. 14 But it will be more bearable for Tyre and Sidon at the judgment than for you. 15 And you, Capernaum, will you be lifted to the heavens? No, you will go down to Hades.[b]

16 “Whoever listens to you listens to me; whoever rejects you rejects me; but whoever rejects me rejects him who sent me.”

I tell you the truth He who claims to be a follower of Jesus Christ is too like one of the 72.  Go out into the world and make disciples of everyone teaching and baptizing in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.  This is the great commission of our Lord Jesus Christ.  You can’t do this if you are sitting around doing nothing.  Just like the ones that went before you.  If you are welcome leave your peace upon them and if you are not welcome your peace will return to you.  Do you know what that means?  You have to allow the Holy Spirit to guide you and if you are in a place that you are welcome you will be able to physically feel that peace coming and going from within you.  I know some of you have felt that but the majority have not experienced the Holy Spirit and the coming and going of the peace that only comes from a real relationship with Jesus Christ.  Once you find it you never want to let it go and when you don’t feel it you are on your knees repenting of what ever it is you have done for that peace to have left you in the first place.  I come to your door and knock when you open the door I say “Peace to this house” and if you are a person of peace the peace I send will rest upon you as a dove.  Having that kind of relationship with Christ is amazing and to know that when you go into a place and know that there is peace or not.  If the Holy Spirit dwells within you, you will know as soon as you walk into a place if not before you walk into a place that God is there or not or if there is danger in a place or not.  He amazes me daily of what He is capable of and what He allows me to experience and see with His eyes and hear with His ears and feel with His heart and touch with His fingertips and even though I cannot see His face I know He is with me because He let’s me know His presence is near.  To feel this peace beyond all understanding is something that I thrive for and seek daily.  You should too.

Peace and Agape Love,

Pastor Steve

250 Events In The Life Of Christ/ A Harmony Of The Gospels Part 129

Section 2: Message And Ministry Of Jesus

“Jesus States He Is Eternal”

John 8:48-59

48 The Jews answered him, “Aren’t we right in saying that you are a Samaritan and demon-possessed?”

49 “I am not possessed by a demon,” said Jesus, “but I honor my Father and you dishonor me. 50 I am not seeking glory for myself; but there is one who seeks it, and he is the judge. 51 Very truly I tell you, whoever obeys my word will never see death.”

52 At this they exclaimed, “Now we know that you are demon-possessed! Abraham died and so did the prophets, yet you say that whoever obeys your word will never taste death. 53 Are you greater than our father Abraham? He died, and so did the prophets. Who do you think you are?”

54 Jesus replied, “If I glorify myself, my glory means nothing. My Father, whom you claim as your God, is the one who glorifies me. 55 Though you do not know him, I know him. If I said I did not, I would be a liar like you, but I do know him and obey his word. 56 Your father Abraham rejoiced at the thought of seeing my day; he saw it and was glad.”

57 “You are not yet fifty years old,” they said to him, “and you have seen Abraham!”

58 “Very truly I tell you,” Jesus answered, “before Abraham was born, I am!” 59 At this, they picked up stones to stone him, but Jesus hid himself, slipping away from the temple grounds.

Through Him we are and by Him we will be with Him and He was there when we were to be and when we came into this world and will always be even when we are no more.  Eternally Jesus Christ the Lord and Savior of the world.  The Living Water that will bring us a drink that we will never thirst again.  The Life, the Truth, the very way of existence on this big blue rock we call home.  Denying Him doesn’t make Him not exist.  Refusing to believe doesn’t change a single event in history.  Saying He isn’t real doesn’t make Him vanish into nonexistence.  He is still in the first day saying “Let there be Light” and in the last day saying “It is done”.  He is here today walking with us talking with us and being here to protect and guide and teach us His ways.  Just because you don’t see Him doesn’t mean He isn’t there.  Just because you can’t feel Him doesn’t mean He isn’t touching you.  Open your heart and see.  Open your soul and you will feel.  Trust and believe and He will sit at your table and eat.  Do not be afraid to speak His name and He will not be ashamed to speak yours.  The center of the Bible is Psalm 118:8 and it says: It is better to take refuge in the LORD than to trust in humans.  He is here and He is waiting on you to come to Him.  If you take the first step and reach out to Him your life will change forever.

Peace and Agape Love,

Pastor Steve

250 Events In The Life Of Christ/ A Harmony Of The Gospels Part 128

Section 2: Message And Ministry Of Jesus

“Jesus Speaks About God’s True Children”

John 8:31-47

31 To the Jews who had believed him, Jesus said, “If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples. 32 Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”

33 They answered him, “We are Abraham’s descendants and have never been slaves of anyone. How can you say that we shall be set free?”

34 Jesus replied, “Very truly I tell you, everyone who sins is a slave to sin. 35 Now a slave has no permanent place in the family, but a son belongs to it forever. 36 So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed. 37 I know that you are Abraham’s descendants. Yet you are looking for a way to kill me, because you have no room for my word. 38 I am telling you what I have seen in the Father’s presence, and you are doing what you have heard from your father.[a]

39 “Abraham is our father,” they answered.

“If you were Abraham’s children,” said Jesus, “then you would[b] do what Abraham did. 40 As it is, you are looking for a way to kill me, a man who has told you the truth that I heard from God. Abraham did not do such things. 41 You are doing the works of your own father.”

“We are not illegitimate children,” they protested. “The only Father we have is God himself.”

42 Jesus said to them, “If God were your Father, you would love me, for I have come here from God. I have not come on my own; God sent me. 43 Why is my language not clear to you? Because you are unable to hear what I say. 44 You belong to your father, the devil, and you want to carry out your father’s desires. He was a murderer from the beginning, not holding to the truth, for there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies. 45 Yet because I tell the truth, you do not believe me! 46 Can any of you prove me guilty of sin? If I am telling the truth, why don’t you believe me? 47 Whoever belongs to God hears what God says. The reason you do not hear is that you do not belong to God.”

WOOOOO HOOOOO I love it when He preaches to the so called choir! Now I am all pumped up and ready to jump on the pulpit and PREACH BABY!  In the church of today do we not sit in our pews all fill of self righteousness wanting people to notice we are at Church today!  I tell you the truth those who go to church to be noticed are no better than the ones Jesus was talking to in this scripture.  If this makes your stomach get tied up in knots with guilt there is still hope for you and for those of you who have taken offense to my words I have one question for you.  Is it because of the truth that you hate me?  For those of you that feel the knots in the pit of your stomach, repent, and stop doing what you are doing.  God wants you in His House of Prayer for what reason?  Prayer and fellowship with other like minded believers in Christ to help the lost, orphaned, widowed and hungry of this world.  Not for you to show off your bling or to bring attention to yourself.  HALLELUIAH THAT FEELS GOOD!  HOLY SPIRIT COME INTO THIS PLACE OF WORSHIP THAT ALL WHO SEE THESE WORDS WILL WORSHIP THE MOST HIGH GOD IN JESUS NAME AME!!!!  MAY THE LIVING WATER OVERFLOW FROM THEIR MOUTHS AND SPEAK IN THE TONGUES OF THE SPIRITS OF LIVING WATER MAY THERE BE AN AWAKENING THIS DAY IN JESUS NAME HALLELUIAH AMEN!!!!

Pastor Steve

250 Events In The Life Of Christ/ A Harmony Of The Gospels Part 127

Section 2: Message And Ministry Of Jesus

“Jesus Warns Of Coming Judgment”

John 8:21-30

21 Once more Jesus said to them, “I am going away, and you will look for me, and you will die in your sin. Where I go, you cannot come.”

22 This made the Jews ask, “Will he kill himself? Is that why he says, ‘Where I go, you cannot come’?”

23 But he continued, “You are from below; I am from above. You are of this world; I am not of this world. 24 I told you that you would die in your sins; if you do not believe that I am he, you will indeed die in your sins.”

25 “Who are you?” they asked.

“Just what I have been telling you from the beginning,” Jesus replied. 26 “I have much to say in judgment of you. But he who sent me is trustworthy, and what I have heard from him I tell the world.”

27 They did not understand that he was telling them about his Father. 28 So Jesus said, “When you have lifted up[a] the Son of Man, then you will know that I am he and that I do nothing on my own but speak just what the Father has taught me. 29 The one who sent me is with me; he has not left me alone, for I always do what pleases him.” 30 Even as he spoke, many believed in him.

Jesus once again proves He is who He says He is.  I have lost track of how many times He has proven Himself to be God in the flesh.  Those engraved invitations have gone out again.  Are you of this world?  I do not want to be of the world.  We may be in this world and have to live here for a short period but to be of the world is to not be of Christ.  The world is here and we must live in it but it doesn’t mean we take in of the worldly things that man has made with his hands because we are to be of Christ we shun the things of this world because we know it isn’t forever.  Eternity is a long time and these things we see, smell, touch, are only temporary in the big scheme of things.  Live your life for Christ for our time here is a mere blink of an eye in time.  Something to PRaP today, am I of this world or in this world?

Peace and Agape Love,

Pastor Steve

Section 2: Message And Ministry Of Jesus

“Jesus Is the Light Of The World”

John 8:12-20

12 When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”

13 The Pharisees challenged him, “Here you are, appearing as your own witness; your testimony is not valid.”

14 Jesus answered, “Even if I testify on my own behalf, my testimony is valid, for I know where I came from and where I am going. But you have no idea where I come from or where I am going. 15 You judge by human standards; I pass judgment on no one. 16 But if I do judge, my decisions are true, because I am not alone. I stand with the Father, who sent me. 17 In your own Law it is written that the testimony of two witnesses is true. 18 I am one who testifies for myself; my other witness is the Father, who sent me.”

19 Then they asked him, “Where is your father?”

“You do not know me or my Father,” Jesus replied. “If you knew me, you would know my Father also.” 20 He spoke these words while teaching in the temple courts near the place where the offerings were put. Yet no one seized him, because his hour had not yet come.

How awesome is it that for those who walk in Christ always walk in Light.  We never are in darkness because the Light keeps our paths straight and true.  As long as we stay on the path that is lit by the Light the darkness can never prevail.  BUT, we as humans tend to go to the left and the right straying from the path.  The danger comes when we choose to stray too far from the Light and our path has become dark.  Jesus says that He will never leave us nor forsake us but it is us, we, and I that allow the path to become crooked and wide and dangerous.  For we stray and lose our way.  We are like sheep.  As long as sheep see the shepherd and hear his voice they do not stray but if they lose sight of him they stray and are lost because they can no longer hear his voice.  How much does that sound like us?  A lot if you ask me.  We all stray away and lose sight of the Light on occasion the thing is that He loves us so much that if we call on Him He brings the Light over to us so that we can see once again and He leads us down His path once again.

PEACE and Agape Love,

Pastor Steve

Section 2: Message And Ministry Of Jesus

“Jesus Forgives An Adulterous Woman”

John 7:53-8:11

53 Then they all went home,

1 but Jesus went to the Mount of Olives.

2 At dawn he appeared again in the temple courts, where all the people gathered around him, and he sat down to teach them. 3 The teachers of the law and the Pharisees brought in a woman caught in adultery. They made her stand before the group 4 and said to Jesus, “Teacher, this woman was caught in the act of adultery. 5 In the Law Moses commanded us to stone such women. Now what do you say?” 6 They were using this question as a trap, in order to have a basis for accusing him.

But Jesus bent down and started to write on the ground with his finger. 7 When they kept on questioning him, he straightened up and said to them, “Let any one of you who is without sin be the first to throw a stone at her.” 8 Again he stooped down and wrote on the ground.

9 At this, those who heard began to go away one at a time, the older ones first, until only Jesus was left, with the woman still standing there. 10 Jesus straightened up and asked her, “Woman, where are they? Has no one condemned you?”

11 “No one, sir,” she said.

“Then neither do I condemn you,” Jesus declared. “Go now and leave your life of sin.”

WOW how amazing is this scripture!  Ever wonder what Jesus was writing in the sand?  I bet one by one He wrote their names in the sand along with their name and the name of whom they committed their act of adultery with.  And they only saw their own adulterous act written.  That is why I think they left one by one until none were left.  We as sinners have no right to condemn or punish those brothers and sisters who have sinned against God.  Only God has the right and the power to do so and yet He sent His Son to pay the sin price for us and for all of us who believe and repent are truly forgiven of those sins and we walk blameless in the eyes of God almighty because of the blood shed through Jesus Christ alone.  ALONE!  There are no other gods before Him nor will there be after Him because He lives always.  Even if you do not believe doesn’t mean He doesn’t exist and just because you don’t believe doesn’t mean the history of these things didn’t happen.  Just because you didn’t see the tree grow doesn’t mean it didn’t exist as a seed in the ground.

Peace and Agape love,

Pastor Steve

250 Events In The Life Of Christ/ A Harmony Of The Gospels Part 124

Section 2: Message And Ministry Of Jesus

“Religious Leaders Attempt To Arrest Jesus”

John 7:32-52

32 The Pharisees heard the crowd whispering such things about him. Then the chief priests and the Pharisees sent temple guards to arrest him.

33 Jesus said, “I am with you for only a short time, and then I am going to the one who sent me. 34 You will look for me, but you will not find me; and where I am, you cannot come.”

35 The Jews said to one another, “Where does this man intend to go that we cannot find him? Will he go where our people live scattered among the Greeks, and teach the Greeks? 36 What did he mean when he said, ‘You will look for me, but you will not find me,’ and ‘Where I am, you cannot come’?”

37 On the last and greatest day of the festival, Jesus stood and said in a loud voice, “Let anyone who is thirsty come to me and drink. 38 Whoever believes in me, as Scripture has said, rivers of living water will flow from within them.”[a] 39 By this he meant the Spirit, whom those who believed in him were later to receive. Up to that time the Spirit had not been given, since Jesus had not yet been glorified.

40 On hearing his words, some of the people said, “Surely this man is the Prophet.”

41 Others said, “He is the Messiah.”

Still others asked, “How can the Messiah come from Galilee? 42 Does not Scripture say that the Messiah will come from David’s descendants and from Bethlehem, the town where David lived?” 43 Thus the people were divided because of Jesus. 44 Some wanted to seize him, but no one laid a hand on him.

45 Finally the temple guards went back to the chief priests and the Pharisees, who asked them, “Why didn’t you bring him in?”

46 “No one ever spoke the way this man does,” the guards replied.

47 “You mean he has deceived you also?” the Pharisees retorted. 48 “Have any of the rulers or of the Pharisees believed in him? 49 No! But this mob that knows nothing of the law—there is a curse on them.”

50 Nicodemus, who had gone to Jesus earlier and who was one of their own number, asked, 51 “Does our law condemn a man without first hearing him to find out what he has been doing?”

52 They replied, “Are you from Galilee, too? Look into it, and you will find that a prophet does not come out of Galilee.”

If they would have checked the birth records they would have seen that Jesus was born in Bethlehem and if the would have checked His mother and Joseph out they would have seen that Jesus is of the blood line of David and is a descendant of David.  But in their haste to stop Him they didn’t do much research and were determined to kill an innocent man.  Jesus is Messiah, the Salvation sent to the world to save it from it’s own destruction.  Well I know that all of those people know who Jesus is now and it’s too late for them to have a do over since they have taken their last breath and no longer live.  But it’s not too late for us reading this today.  We need only repent and follow Him.  Believe that He died and rose again on the third day for us.  Jesus has paid the sin price for all who believe and follow.  Are you one?  I challenge you to share this today with someone who doesn’t know who Jesus is and plant the seed of Salvation.

Peace and Agape Love,

Pastor Steve

250 Events In The Life Of Christ/ A Harmony Of The Gospels Part 123

Section 2: Message And Ministry Of Jesus

“Jesus Teaches Openly At The Temple”

John 7:10-31

10 However, after his brothers had left for the festival, he went also, not publicly, but in secret. 11 Now at the festival the Jewish leaders were watching for Jesus and asking, “Where is he?”

12 Among the crowds there was widespread whispering about him. Some said, “He is a good man.”

Others replied, “No, he deceives the people.” 13 But no one would say anything publicly about him for fear of the leaders.

14 Not until halfway through the festival did Jesus go up to the temple courts and begin to teach. 15 The Jews there were amazed and asked, “How did this man get such learning without having been taught?”

16 Jesus answered, “My teaching is not my own. It comes from the one who sent me. 17 Anyone who chooses to do the will of God will find out whether my teaching comes from God or whether I speak on my own. 18 Whoever speaks on their own does so to gain personal glory, but he who seeks the glory of the one who sent him is a man of truth; there is nothing false about him. 19 Has not Moses given you the law? Yet not one of you keeps the law. Why are you trying to kill me?”

20 “You are demon-possessed,” the crowd answered. “Who is trying to kill you?”

21 Jesus said to them, “I did one miracle, and you are all amazed. 22 Yet, because Moses gave you circumcision (though actually it did not come from Moses, but from the patriarchs), you circumcise a boy on the Sabbath. 23 Now if a boy can be circumcised on the Sabbath so that the law of Moses may not be broken, why are you angry with me for healing a man’s whole body on the Sabbath? 24 Stop judging by mere appearances, but instead judge correctly.”

25 At that point some of the people of Jerusalem began to ask, “Isn’t this the man they are trying to kill? 26 Here he is, speaking publicly, and they are not saying a word to him. Have the authorities really concluded that he is the Messiah? 27 But we know where this man is from; when the Messiah comes, no one will know where he is from.”

28 Then Jesus, still teaching in the temple courts, cried out, “Yes, you know me, and you know where I am from. I am not here on my own authority, but he who sent me is true. You do not know him, 29 but I know him because I am from him and he sent me.”

30 At this they tried to seize him, but no one laid a hand on him, because his hour had not yet come. 31 Still, many in the crowd believed in him. They said, “When the Messiah comes, will he perform more signs than this man?”

Go Jesus! Go Jesus!  I love this part!  In my minds eye I can see Him standing there and I can hear Him shouting so the crowd can hear Him and then when they tried to seize Jesus they couldn’t.  It seems as if time stood still and He just walked through the crowd untouched and walked away from them.  Isn’t everything written here true today?  We see miracles and are amazed yet when we are called to follow Christ we cannot let go of our worldly existence to do it with everything we have.  The flesh is weak but the spirit is strong and he who defeats the flesh will be blessed.

Peace and Agape Love,

Pastor Steve

250 Events In The Life Of Christ/ A Harmony Of The Gospels Part 122

Section 2: Message And Ministry Of Jesus

“Jesus Teaches About The Cost Of Following Him”

Matthew 8:18-22

Luke 9:51-62

Matthew:

18 When Jesus saw the crowd around him, he gave orders to cross to the other side of the lake. 19 Then a teacher of the law came to him and said, “Teacher, I will follow you wherever you go.”

20 Jesus replied, “Foxes have dens and birds have nests, but the Son of Man has no place to lay his head.”

21 Another disciple said to him, “Lord, first let me go and bury my father.”

22 But Jesus told him, “Follow me, and let the dead bury their own dead.”

Luke:

51 As the time approached for him to be taken up to heaven, Jesus resolutely set out for Jerusalem. 52 And he sent messengers on ahead, who went into a Samaritan village to get things ready for him; 53 but the people there did not welcome him, because he was heading for Jerusalem. 54 When the disciples James and John saw this, they asked, “Lord, do you want us to call fire down from heaven to destroy them[a]?” 55 But Jesus turned and rebuked them. 56 Then he and his disciples went to another village.

57 As they were walking along the road, a man said to him, “I will follow you wherever you go.”

58 Jesus replied, “Foxes have dens and birds have nests, but the Son of Man has no place to lay his head.”

59 He said to another man, “Follow me.”

But he replied, “Lord, first let me go and bury my father.”

60 Jesus said to him, “Let the dead bury their own dead, but you go and proclaim the kingdom of God.”

61 Still another said, “I will follow you, Lord; but first let me go back and say goodbye to my family.”

62 Jesus replied, “No one who puts a hand to the plow and looks back is fit for service in the kingdom of God.”

What Jesus is saying here is that we have to be willing to give up EVERYTHING to follow Him.  Everything we once knew and know will not be where you are.  Stepping outside of the norm is an extremely difficult thing to do.  We have to be willing to give up family and friends to follow Him.  Let me help you out a little here because this is extreme to most of you.  The reasons for these things are this.  Everyone around you knows who you were and you will have difficulty in following Jesus because a prophet cannot perform many miracles in his own town.  Have you wondered why?  Because there is a lack of faith amongst people who think they know who you are.  This has happened to me on more than one occasion and is a reason that I am where I am today.  Doing the things I was told that I couldn’t do and were doomed to failure in the first week of doing them.  When Jesus comes to you and says “Follow Me” you cannot look back upon what was because it is all gone.  There will be no time to prepare for this and that or those you must be willing to drop it all and allow Him to bless you with what is right.  Be careful how you interpret the words of God because I know some who will take these words spoken and twist them to benefit themselves or hurt others.  God will bless those who are honest in their efforts to follow the ways of Jesus Christ in ways they will not understand at first but will in time see and understand why they are where they are and the purpose and blessing will come.

Peace and Agape Love,

Pastor Steve
